Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 6, 2026
Sports Verified LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), operating the Hoop Verified platform ("the Platform"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains what information we collect, what becomes publicly visible, how we log your consent, and how you can opt out or delete your data. For additional protections specific to children under 18, please also review our Children's Privacy Policy.
What Becomes Public
Hoop Verified is a basketball coverage and evaluation platform. Some profile information is visible to the public so coaches, scouts, and fans can discover athletes. You (or your parent, if you are under 18) control exactly what is shared.
Information That May Be Public
Depending on your privacy settings and parental approvals, the following may appear on your public profile:
- Name: First name and either your full last name or just your last initial
- Graduation class year: Used as a public age-group indicator
- Location: City and state only — we never display your full street address
- School: School or club team name, if you choose to show it
- Athletic information: Position, height, weight, and verified game statistics
- Hoop Verified status: Whether you have completed our academic and athletic verification
- Photos and videos: Only if you (or your parent) explicitly enable public visibility
- Posts and highlights: Only if enabled in your privacy settings
Information That Is Never Public
The following is never displayed on a public profile, shared with other users, or sold to third parties:
- Date of birth or exact age (we only show graduation year)
- Email address
- Full street address or school address
- Report cards or academic records
- Parent or guardian contact information
- Payment method details (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers)
For Minors (Under 18)
If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must approve your public profile before any of the above information becomes visible. Without that approval, your profile remains private and visible only to you and your parent. Pre-created ranking profiles for athletes under 13 are excluded from public search and search-engine indexing entirely. See our Children's Privacy Policy for full details.
How Consent Is Logged
Every time you agree to our Terms of Service, accept our Privacy Policy, change a privacy setting, or grant parental approval, we record that action in a permanent consent audit log. This is how it works:
- What we record: The type of consent (for example, signing up, making a parent profile public, or approving a minor's profile), the date and time, your email address, your IP address, your browser type, and the version of the terms or privacy policy you agreed to.
- Why we log it: To maintain a clear record of what you agreed to, to comply with laws like COPPA that require verifiable parental consent, and to resolve any disputes about what permissions were granted.
- Who can see it: You can view your own consent history in your account settings. Parents can view consent history for their linked minor accounts. Our compliance team can access logs for legal or safety investigations.
- How long we keep it: Consent logs are retained for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal compliance and dispute resolution.
If you are a parent, you may request a copy of your child's complete consent audit trail at any time by contacting us at legal@hoopverified.com.
How to Opt Out or Delete Your Data
You have full control over your data. Here are all the ways you can opt out, restrict sharing, or remove your information:
1. Change Your Privacy Settings
At any time, you can adjust what appears on your public profile by going to your account settings and toggling individual visibility options (last name, location, stats, videos, posts, etc.). Changes take effect immediately.
2. Revoke Parental Approval (For Minors)
Parents can revoke public-profile approval for a minor at any time through the Parent Dashboard. When approval is revoked, the minor's profile immediately becomes private and is no longer visible to coaches, scouts, or the public.
3. Unsubscribe from Emails
Every marketing or notification email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it once and you will stop receiving that type of email. Transactional emails (such as password resets or purchase confirmations) cannot be disabled because they are necessary for account security.
4. Delete Your Account
To permanently delete your account and all associated personal data:
- Log into your account
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion request
- Your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
Parents can also delete a linked minor's account through the Parent Dashboard. When an account is deleted, uploaded documents (report cards, verification materials) are removed immediately, and all personal profile data is erased within 30 days. We may retain anonymized, aggregated statistics (such as total player counts or average rankings) that cannot be linked back to any individual.
5. Contact Us Directly
If you need help opting out, want to exercise a privacy right, or have questions about what data we hold, email us at legal@hoopverified.com. We will respond to verifiable requests within a reasonable timeframe.
